Chrome Extension Privacy Policy

This policy describes how the RCStash Chrome Extension ("the Extension") collects and uses data. The Extension is built and maintained by RCStash. For the broader RCStash website privacy policy, see rcstash.com/privacy.

What the Extension Does

When you visit a product page on AMain Hobbies, Horizon Hobby, or RC Superstore, the Extension reads the current page URL and sends it to the RCStash API. If we track that vehicle, a price comparison card is displayed on the page showing current prices across all supported retailers.

Data We Collect

  • Current page URL — sent to the RCStash API to look up vehicle prices. It is not stored or logged beyond the duration of the request.
  • Email address — collected only if you choose to sign in to your RCStash account through the Extension. Used solely to identify your account and premium subscription status.
  • Authentication token — if you sign in, your session token is stored locally in Chrome's extension storage on your device. It is never transmitted to any third party.

What We Do Not Collect

  • We do not collect your browsing history
  • We do not read or collect any content from retailer pages beyond the URL
  • We do not track clicks, keystrokes, or any user activity on retailer sites
  • We do not collect location data or IP addresses through the Extension
  • We do not use your data for advertising
  • We do not sell your data to any third party

Remote Calls

The Extension makes API requests to rcstash.com to retrieve vehicle price data. No external scripts are loaded or executed — all extension code is bundled locally within the Extension package.

Permissions Used

  • storage — to save your authentication token locally so you stay signed in between sessions.
  • activeTab / tabs — to read the URL of your current tab in order to look up vehicle prices.
  • Host permissions (amainhobbies.com, horizonhobby.com, rcsuperstore.com) — to inject the price comparison card directly onto retailer product pages.
  • Host permissions (rcstash.com) — to call the RCStash API to fetch price data.
